Guest commentary for SBS Insight: Our dogs may love us, but that doesn't mean we should treat them like humans

In lieu of SBS replaying their episode of 'puppy love' which I was a guest panelist, they asked me to write a short commentary on anthropormorphising dogs- which was one of the themes of the show.

How did the dingo get to Australia?

A paper by Melanie Fillios and Paul TaçonI published in the Journal of Archaeological Science discussed the origin of the dingo. The story was picked up by Leigh Dayton from Science Magazine. Leigh contacted me to give some comment on this exciting new work. Seems we are getting closer and closer to uncovering the dingo's origins!

MRI scans used to prove dogs can recognise emotional states in humans

I was asked by the ABC Radio National to provide comment on some great new research that has just been released. The research looked at the use of functional MRI to look inside the 'dogs' brain. The ABC story can be found here. The story was also picked up by I F**ken Love Science blog.

Since the release of 'The Dingo Debate' in August 2015, there have been several reviews of the book (see 2015 posts). In 2016, more reviews have been published, including a story by Tim Low in the Sydney Morning Herald (and subseuqnetly many other papers around Australia that took the story).
